The location was very nice, next to the main market. It's a small property, but it was very clean. All though I would say it's not a kid-friendly hotel, there is nothing for kids to do. There were not many facilities. The service was awesome, and the staff there were extremely kind. Rooms are spacious and the ambience of the hotel is very good. They had a fireplace as well as an adorable dog, we can play with. They have limited food options.

Only premium deluxe rooms are decent. Rest most rooms are quite small with old amenities (not worth the price). It is an ideal location in Darjeeling (next to Mall Road) and has quite humble local staff. Very limited food options.

We had an amazing stay at Elgin Darjeeling. The location was perfect providing easy access to the Mall Road and the joy ride train station. The hotel was neat and clean. The interiors looked fab as it is an heritage property and they have maintained it really well. The room itself was pretty, it looked like something straight of a cosy novel. The only downside was not being able to light up the fireplace due to smoke. However, overall it was a great experience and we would highly recommend this property to anyone visiting Darjeeling.

Our stay at the Elgin was disappointing, to say the very least. The rooms were unclean and filled with plumbing issues (waste flushing back up). The cleaning and room service left much to be desired. The restaurant staff was rude and the food options were extremely limited. When asked for more options, management promised us freshly prepared items and did not deliver half of what was requested. Even on the day of departure, we had to argue with the manager on call regarding the breakfast options. No one even bothered to refill buffet items in the middle of meal hours. Extremely disappointed with our stay, truly surprised that Elgin calls itself a 5-star hotel and delivers poorly. I strongly suggest looking at other affordable options around the area. This one is not worth your time.

We were promised a room overlooking the Himalayas. Room we got overlooked roads and rooms of hotel workers. We were not able to open shades during our entire stay. It would have been better if we had just booked a standalone hotel room. Room was on 4th floor with no lifts. There is no mention about this fact anywhere. People who have difficulty in climbing stairs or are travelling with elderly people, please take note. Being an old structure, the stairs itself are big to climb. Unstructured rooms with no charging point. we were provided with an extension cord to connect with one remote plug somewhere hiden inside the TV desk. TV is placed in such a way that it is not convenient to watch and ofcourse you could either watch TV or connect the extension cord! There is nothing to do in the "resort" especially for children. Limited food options with last order to be placed by 7.30 pm!! To summarise, not at all recommended to stay here. They charge you atrocious price for a " Heritage Property" tag. Having stayed a few times in Darjeeling, I can assure there are much better places to stay at this price point. P.S: I noticed a standard response from Elgin to my wife's review that we should contact the reception for a resolution. To think that we wouldn't have done so is so immature. Please rest assured that we brought up all our concerns with your people on the first day itself but with no resolution.

The property is beautiful but we had a bitter experience. We booked through Makemytrip and spent more than 43000. We were given a room on the attic on fourth floor. It was impossible for us to climb up 4 floors everytime and despite requests we were told nothing else was available. So we left losing all the money. Beware of such experiences if you have difficulty in climbing upstairs. All that was shown in their photos were cottages

So much for the "heritage property" tag. Rooms provided on 4th floor without a lift. We were promised a mountain view room but the only view we have now is overlooking another window. …

It's a heritage hotel. Situated in the heart of the city. Staffs are friendly. Though a bit on the expensive side...it's a very picturesque place. Mall road is at a walking distance. Food and the buffet breakfast is also wholesome.
